Amazon Templates
What are Amazon Templates?
This section is only required if users want to list new ASINs on Amazon using product identifiers such as UPC or EAN. In any other case, creating and setting up Amazon templates is not mandatory.
Amazon templates are a way to group together products belonging to a particular WooCommerce category with certain mandatory and suggested data needed for performing actions such as - listing new ASINs on Amazon.
Templates are sets of attributes and settings for listings to generate or modify your product listings quickly. When a Template is modified, all listings it applies to are updated.
In each template you create, you need to choose Amazon's primary category, secondary category, and browse node to get the template data fields, some of which will be mandatory, while others are suggested. The data fields differ by category and browse node you’ll select. You can read about Browse Nodes here.
The template data fields might not always be up to date with changes in Amazon’s categories to which the fields belong therefore, often, users will face missing data errors, and the missing data fields might not be there in a template. We are working on a few solutions to help our sellers overcome this issue. These solutions can be explored in the roadmap section of this guide.
Creating Amazon Template in WooCommerce Plugin
Here is a short demo of creating an Amazon Template in our WooCommerce plugin. We are constantly adding new features to the templates, so the demo below might not be up-to-date. Please visit the guide's roadmap section to learn more about what we have planned for our templates.
Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t have UPC or EAN for my products. Will I still be able to use templates to list new ASINs on Amazon?
To list new ASINs, you can apply for GTIN exemption if you don’t have UPC or EAN. If the product you want to sell is your own private label brand, a generic no-brand name product, or a handmade product, you can apply for a GTIN exemption.
I can’t see any fields in the template after selecting the categories and browse node.
We fetch the template fields using an external API therefore if you cannot view the fields in the template, it might be possible that the API is having some issues.
